Nigerians Express Shock To Realise An Office Of Minister Of Police Affairs Exists In The Country

Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, has been a hotspot of protests in the past week with youths calling for the end of the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

In a series of campaigns that has grounded the country especially in the south-west regions, the youths have come out in large numbers since Monday the 7th, protesting the perpetual killing and harrasment by SARS officials.

In a bid to placate the Nigerian youths, the government issued a directive "disbanding" the SARS unit with immediate effect. This announcement has however been rejected by Nigerians follwing the precedent of ineptitude on the part of the government to make this directive stick. In the past four years and under to police IG's, the SARS unit has been "disbanded" "dissolved" "reformed" four times with no difference or change achieved.

The Minister of Police Affairs in Nigeria Hon. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, took to his Twitter page to urge the Youths to trust the government to make a change.

In response to this, many Nigerians have expressed their shock to realize such office exists in the nation seeing as this is the first time he has addressed the nation.
