From Imagination to Industry: How Oluwabunmi Ogunsemowo Reshapes Abuja’s Luxury Event Décor Scene Through H.O.I Events

Oluwabunmi Ogunsemowo’s journey into luxury event décor began with a deep fascination for how space can influence emotion, memory, and connection. Long before H.O.I Events became a recognised name in Abuja’s premium décor market, she was driven by a desire to transform ordinary venues into immersive environments where beauty, structure, and storytelling meet. Today, she stands as one of the creative entrepreneurs reshaping how luxury event décor is defined and delivered in Nigeria’s capital city.

As Founder and Creative Director of H.O.I Events, Ogunsemowo has built a company known for refined finishing, signature ceiling installations, and bespoke event aesthetics. Her work spans luxury weddings, corporate events, large scale installations, and premium Christmas street and building decorations across Abuja and Northern Nigeria. During the 2025 end of year season, when premium celebrations reached their peak, her designs became a defining presence across some of the city’s most visible events.

“My passion has always been about creating beauty that tells a story through space,” Ogunsemowo said. “Event décor allows me to create immersive worlds where design meets emotion, and that purpose has kept me going even when the journey wasn’t easy.”

Her creative philosophy has been shaped by formal education and professional training at the University of Lagos, complemented by certifications in event management, event design, and creative entrepreneurship. She has also gained international exposure through sourcing and design research across Ghana, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, China, Qatar, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, experiences that sharpened her eye for finishing, structure, and spatial aesthetics.

Beyond aesthetics, Ogunsemowo’s leadership is anchored in discipline and consistency. She built H.O.I Events from the ground up through creativity, faith, strategic thinking, and relentless commitment to quality. Over time, this approach earned trust from clients who value reliability, excellence, and attention to detail.

“Building this brand taught me that excellence is intentional,” she explained. “You do not chase shortcuts. You build systems, protect standards, and stay consistent.”

Ogunsemowo is also intentional about giving back to the creative ecosystem. She mentors younger creatives and participates in industry conversations, workshops, and panels focused on professionalism, structure, and financial empowerment for event professionals.

As a wife, mother, and business owner, she balances creativity with leadership, setting an example for women navigating entrepreneurship in Nigeria’s creative economy. Her work reflects a broader shift in Abuja’s luxury market toward intentional, meaningful design rather than excess.

Her story continues to inspire a new generation of Nigerian creatives to see event design not just as decoration, but as purposeful work capable of shaping culture, economies, and lasting professional legacies nationwide.

“Creativity is intelligence in action,” Ogunsemowo said. “When it is respected and supported, it builds industries, not just beautiful moments.”
